Our School Fundraiser's Name Needs A Make-over!

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Our small private school (K-12) holds an annual fundraiser in the spring that raises money for "Teacher Wish Lists". These are requests for extra special items that enhance the children's education, ie smartboards, AP microscopes, musical stuff.
We are reinventing it this year b/c it has become a little stale although we still make money. It used to be called the Tatnall "T" Party but that confused a lot of people.

We need a catchy name that lets the parents know that it is a fundraiser AND that it is fun. It will include dinner, dancing and a live comedian. We need a name that will keep going year after year and we can just change the theme or tagline.

    A couple of possibilities --

Recess ... for a better Education
    a fundraiser

With this I see parents telling their kids they are going out for Recess and especially the young ones, will laugh and parents can explain. It could create conversation among parents and kids.

    Stock a Locker

This would be fun to decorate from invitations, programs and favors.

    Good luck and have fun!

What a great program. I applaud your efforts in helping your school and community.

I have been involved in a fair number of these. There are two basic approaches - "what's in it for the school" or "what's in it for me." The latter usually does a lot better in driving bigger turnout, although they both need to carry the same strong message of supporting the school and the learning process.

The first approach (What;s in it for the school) could have a theme along the lines of "Make a Wish for a Teacher" and borrow a bit from Make A Wish Foundation which is all about helping kids. The Second approach (What's in it for me) would be to take your activities and put a theme around them such as Casino-Night, Paris, or maybe Disco Night (with appropriate 80's dress of course) and the comedian should be able to have some real fun with your theme as part of the routine.

Good luck and I hope you surpass your fund raising goals.
