Conference Website For Your Review

Posted by k.sapen on 25 Points
Hi all,
I'd appreciate your input (from both marketing and technology/usability perspective) on our website for technology conference https://cloudslam10.com . Our priority was reliability, rather than usability, so we may have implemented something in really spartan way. Most external widgets like sharethis and like have been deleted as they slow down page load and seem to have no effect of actually driving traffic. We just left GA for now.

thanks

3 rules for promoting a conference:

    - The speakers/presenters and what they will present are the draw. Make them the heart of your message.
    - Make prospective attendees feel left-behind if they miss the event.
    - Have a registration "call-to-action" on every page and offer a discount for early registration.

    Best of Luck, JohnnyB.

@karen Thanks a lot, this is pretty good and extensive analysis, we'll implement changes that you propose immediately

    @ thecynicalmarketer aka JohnyB.
Thanks, we'll try to make value proposition more bold. Excellent point on call to action (early registration point has been passed already, so we'll pitch regular and VIP instead).

Unless I've already heard about your conference, the home page doesn't give me a strong reason to read on. What's the #1 reason that someone NEEDS to attend? Who's the ideal attendee? What's the expected return-on-investment (ROI) for attending. Make it blindingly obvious who you're talking to and what's in it for them.

(Aside: you have a typo: "Click here for more infromation")

    Thanks, Jay!
    This duly noted and appreciated.
Typo has been fixed and I'm thinking on putting value proposition statement on front page. Here's my draft outline for benefits breakdown:

    Cloud Computing:
    - Cost Savings for Business
    - Agility for Large Scale Business Operations

    Virtual Conference Format:
    - Lower Costs
    - Time Savings
    - Ability to see presentation later at own pace

    Conference itself:
    a) attendees
    - Networking
    - Knowledge Transfer
    - Specific Knowledge (e.g. Cloud for XYZ)
    - Sales Leads
    - Career Management
    - Thought Leadership from recognized experts

    b) sponsors
    - leads
    - brand recognition

Let me know your thoughts, if this is attractive enough or needs more work.

    thanks,
    KS
