Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Hi there,
I am doing a project " social and cultural factors that affect the Targeting strategy of KFC in singapore". I have to talk about the environmental and swot analysis for kfc. Can anyone explain about the marketing strategies (menu, advertising etc) kfc has in singapore as per the social and cultural environment ?

thanks,

    hi bhawna_aswani,

well first of all welcome to KHE,
second please read the "important guide lines" section#5 https://www.marketingprofs.com/ea/guidelines.asp

then come back and tell us what YOU think! we will then go from there.

i did a google search this MAY help. i suggest you have a look at the first few pages and if you need to refine the search a bit more by using Advanced search https://www.google.com/search?q=+kfc+singapore&start=0&start=0&ie=utf-8&oe=...

off the top of my head i suggest you look at what they did when Bird Flu hit asia

also you might try comparing kfc New Zealand's website to Kfc Singapore’s web site and/or the American website.

just by looking at the website i can see that Singapore has a SELF SERVRE kfc while New Zealand does not.

also there is the fact that kfc are giving away cool comics and stuff with there meals while they very rarely do that in New Zealand.

hope you post a response so we can give you some better answers

    have a nice day

Have you done the SWOT and PEST analysis yet? What came out of that?

In terms of targeting, have you decided who you think they are targeting?

How have they segmented their market from the product/service development perspective?

And what do they do in their advertising to carry through on that market segmentation?

Have you approached KFC Marketing in Singapore to ask them?

Once when I was a Marketing Director in a leisure/entertainment business a school student rang me with questions on a project assignment the class had been given on a case study on my actual business... I gave her 30 minutes of my time, she quoted me in her project paper and got A+ with a special commendation for having taken the initiative to go straight to the "horse's mouth".

Now on the assumption you are not working for a competitor of KFC, why don't you try that tactic?

    Good Luck...

Always try the Search Questions link on this site. Another student posted a similar question last month!

How will you change your tactics if selling in the low end market, or the high end market? KFC in the USA is low-end mass market. In China, the focus for KFC is on the high end price scale of the market. Compare the situation to what the relative price position is in Singapore. – this is only one element – price – there are others you must look at.

I know this q is closed but I just saw your request for further help...

    To link strategies to analysis...

For SWOT, perform a TOWS analysis with the strategies you develop in the middle.

For PEST, Write the Environmental Analyses into four columns (P-E-S-T). Below each column, write possible strategies to deal with the environmental factors.

Then collect all your strategies form both exercises into a list and prioritize them... Implement the most effective looking ones first.

In fact my preference would be to MAP your Strategies at that point... But that may be taking you into an area you are not yet comfortable with...

    Hope this helps.
