We are a new company, and I would like to add an "about us" link on our web page.

Trouble is our while we "think big" as a company, we operate out of a farm shed in outback Australia. :P

Would it be wrong to head up to an industrial area of the city, one Sunday afternoon, and have photos taken out the front of a neat and tidy new industrial building? We won't tell people that it's our offices, but will it be wrong to let them assume they are our offices?

We don't actually get customers at our door, all business is done online.

Do you really need a picture of building? Why not take pictures of your staff outside of the shed, in an attractive location? If the insides of your shed are attractive, take pictures inside as well. Don't take pictures of a building that's not yours with the intention of fooling anyone - the risk of negative publicity isn't worth it.

About us is about your people not a building. Dial up most everyone' s about us page, and you don't see a building at all. They talk about the people. Cause people buy from people not a building.

And you are taking something unique about your company that should be a positive -- throwing it away to become like everyone else.

Think of other companies who's culture is fun rather than stoic. Capitalize on that. Why would you aspire to be a Kinko's?

Agree with not using others' building(s), BUT if you really want a photo of something w/your people, consider posing around the local town identifying sign a la 'Entering Anytown, USA.

    Best,

I agree with most of the comments. Why not display photos of you working so that clients will have a "window" into your business. Convey information on what you do. Be truthful at the same time appealing in all aspects.
