I think the single best thought is "protect your investment". Many carpet warranties are voided without regular professional cleaning.

Are you IICRC certified? Mills if a warranty issue require certified firms.

I also like their reminder that carpet cleaning is a science. It's chemistry and that is the real value you bring over those "do it yourself" machines from the grocery store. I had a client use one and actually "set" the stain in a stain resistant carpet-- voiding her warranty.

Better than a post card: call your former customers. You will be amazed at how many will thank you for the call and schedule an appointment on the first call.

Postcards don't have the immediacy of a phone call. Too easy to throw them away.

When you call, be sure to make it easy for them to take action after you leave a message on their voice mail or answering machine. Repeat your phone number.

Goodman is right. I'm usually the first one to push a contact like that-- I must be off my game today.

Show your good customer service and remind them it's time, the benefits of protecting your investment and have the calendar in hand to book the appointment on the spot.

Send the postcard, make the call...be sincere in your follow up.

An idea for a promo line: We're calling you on the carpet.

Carol Blaha: As soon as I saw your name on a response I thought of the phone contact. When you didn't mention it, I figured I'd see if I could one-up you ... for the first time in recorded history! :)

YOU know that ph determines whether a carpet will attract dirt or not. Customers don't. Your competition doesn't..or they don't mention it.

I'm big on educating a client to separate myself.

How about a guy with a really bad toupee? and "How often should you clean your rug?"

ph of carpet doesnt determine if a carpet will attract anything. Carpets are PH neutral. Stains are not ph neutral. Momma mia.

Thanks goodman for the comments- I spent the day cold calling with a teeny migrane. I plead a big ouchy!

    Better read this: https://desktoppub.about.com/cs/postcards/a/postcardsales.htm

Personally, I recommend you do both -- postcards and a sincere call to your clients.

What about an email campaign? Have you collected any information from existing customers (email addresses)? If not, you might consider starting for future marketing opportunities. Make up a simple comment card with an email opt-in and hand it to them when completing a job, they can fill it out & mail it back to you. This will not only help you build an email campaign, but give you some valuable feedback as well.

For now, I agree with the folks who suggested both a mailer and a phone call.
