How To Respond To A Rfp For An Director Position?

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I have been approached to help someone create a proposal in response to an RFP sent out by an association looking for an executive director position. I’ve been a part of many marketing/advertising proposals, but never one of this nature. Does anyone have any examples of proposals of this nature, or any recommendations? I'm having a difficult time deciding on the best way to structure the response. Thanks!

That's a very interesting approach for the association. I'm guessing that they want to see how well the candidate can create a proposal because it will be a central element in the job. (I guess that answers the question of whether your contact is comfortable that he/she can handle it alone!)

In the book Rasputin For Hire, there is a long-form sample proposal on pages 175-185 that can serve as a starting point for your friend. On pages 85-98 there's a detailed discussion of what should go into each section of the proposal. (It's for a consulting proposal, but it shouldn't be too much of a challenge to apply it to the RFP in your situation.)

You can get the book at: https://bit.ly/9w7nDq , or through any major bookseller in the United States, or online at Amazon.com, BN.com, etc.
