As karen says, know your market. I would imagine seniors would be a niche to start with. So market to the assisted living centers and senior centers. The pasters of local churches know who's house ridden as well as those just getting out of the hospital.

Will your business be picking produce and other staples or simply driving their purchased groceries to their home? The former is a hard business - many wise/well-connected business people have gone under trying to crack the grocery delivery business only to find that people like picking out produce. Foods that are identical (canned, frozen, etc.) people aren't so finicky about. But people often want to choose produce, fresh fish, meat with their own eyes/hands.

Where? What country? This isn't exactly a new concept in the United States. Maybe you can learn from some of the companies that have already tried this.

For any service like this to succeed, you must FANAFI! (Find a need and fill it). Once you have found a way to do that, you will have an easier time promoting the service.

What need are you filling and for whom? When you can answer that, your market must address that group whose need is being met. If your potential client base is senior citizens, the web is not going to do much for you. (I suspect that the senior market is your target)

Instead of marketing to the seniors, how about marketing to their middle aged "children"? Perhaps based on, "your parents did so much for you, now you can do something for them" . Maybe provide the seniors with a checklist of canned goods, utility products (cat/dog food, water softener salt, etc) and how often they want deliveries, then bill the kids.

Thanks for all the great feedback. Here is a few details about the service. Customers will select and pay for their groceries on our website, and we deliver it to them in a set delivery window. Customers will be charged per use or they can get a subscription to our service. The great thing about this business is that there is two distinct customer segments, busy families and seniors. The primary benefits we will offer are convenience, savings, and health. I am well aware that this service is not for everyone, but I am interested in ideas that will help me reach those who are. Thanks in advance for the help.
