Junior Golf Tour Advertising Strategy

Posted by Anonymous on 120 Points
Hi, I own a junior golf tour that will have its first season next year, so right now I'm trying to get the word out. I've created a Facebook and Twitter page, but I need more ideas about how to get the word out. I'm headquartered in Wichita, KS and my target market is males and females ages 12-22 in the Kansas and the surrounding states in a one state radius. I know I need to focus on the higher populated areas including Wichita and KC, but I don't know how. I don't have hardly a budget at all, so manual advertising would be best. I want to go to golf courses and see if they will let me leave a stack of flyers, but I'm not sure. Help!

Engage with people who are most likely to be your clients or parents of your clients. Enjoy conversation via your social media outlets about the value of junior golf competition for now and later in their lives. Talk with these people, not at them.

Without a budget you're in an unenviable, unadvisable position for a startup (new businesses are advised to set aside funds for some advertising and publicity). That said, become the expert in everything junior golf in your area. Pitch stories to traditional media and share your earned clips everywhere your clients are online. Make copies of those clips and share them with golf pros at their facilities. Those will more entertaining and informative, thus provide better incentive for people to sign up for your events than generic flyers.

Start by making friends at local golf courses, then get referrals to other pros/owners of courses in other areas (call them and mail them flyers to put out) - and repeat.
