Feedback For Booty Beanbags

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I have a relatively new website www.BootyBeanbags.com (been online since January) and am struggling to figure out what about the site I can do better or optimize to make sales. I've been working on SEO on my own and have moved up significantly in Google. I am looking for more comments about the website itself, what is a turnon, what is a turnoff, etc. ANY feedback will be greatly appreciated and thank you in advance for your honesty. Thanks so much!

Since you have Google Analytics installed, what data can you share with us? Are you having a problem with traffic or sales or both? Where are people going on your website? When are they leaving? How well does your website reflect people's search terms (and expectation of your website)? That's where I'd start.

Jay's asking the right questions. How are people finding your site? Is the problem traffic or conversions, or both? Other than your homegrown SEO efforts, what is your marketing plan? Are you spending enough to create awareness and traffic?

One problem I see immediately is that it's not clear on the home page how to order a chair. I had to try several different (wrong) clicks to get to a page where I could find prices and a way to order.

Thanks for the responses everyone, I appreciate it. It's difficult to get some traction when you have a new website. I've gone from Google listing at page 40 to roughly around page 10 in a few months (for keyword 'Bean Bag Chairs'), so I know part of it is just getting traffic to the site. We are operating at a very minimal budget now, having spent probably too much on the site itself and not leaving enough for very much of a marketing budget.

Most people right now are finding our site through articles that have been written about it and clicking on those links. Also doing some minimal Google Adwords PPC. Not many people are finding it through organic search. And when I say not many, I mean like almost none at this point, maybe a few a day.

So what is why I wanted to see if I could get some pointers with optimizing the site so I can get it pretty high in the search engines while I work out the kinks. I know it takes time, but a few sales along the way could help stop the bleeding, so to speak. And it is a quality product as well, I wouldn't invest so much to sell a crap product.

I agree with you Karen about the pictures. We are in the process of re-shooting each product in a staged home setting (as opposed to bare studio) and also including more men. It will probably take us a good while to do it but we're in the process now, product by product. Does anyone have an opinon on the "Booty Babes" section of the site? I know it's something that no other Bean Bag site really does so I thought it would set us apart and keep people coming back each month. What it does is get us articles on Asylum.com called "Booty Beanbags: Is it Porn?" - and people click the link, stay on the site for a minute to look, and then bolt. Anyway I was just curious of your thoughts.

Thanks again and I appreciate all the honest feedback. I believe it's a cool site but I know it can be a much better site with some elbow greese.
