Non-profit 25th Anniversary Celebration

Posted by Anonymous on 25 Points
Hello all, I realize there are MANY questions here regarding Anniversary celebrations for businesses..but as a non-profit Education Foundation, I have limited resources and funding available. Our 25th Anniversary celebration will be in October, 2010, and I have a 40 member Board that wants to know my marketing plan. We have many programs that touch the community - from Mentoring to Student Scholarships - our website is www.foundationosceola.org. Until the last few months, there was not one person in my office that was solely responsible for PR/Marketing, but I have recently been promoted to Director of Communications. Our website needs to be redesigned, and I would like to re-brand all of our marketing materials - nothing has been updated for the last 7 years or so. I only have a budget of $15,000 to get this all done.

I am most grateful for any of your ideas! Thanks so much,
Cindi

I would prioritize the website redesign to be able to find information quicker and easier, as well as to highlight the anniversary. You should be able to do this for as little as $3,500-$5,000 if you work with someone who is versed in programming and SEO.

Be sure to be consistent with the site and the rest of your promotional materials, whatever they are. Describe exactly what you do in each of them and spread a consistent message.

Begin to engage with your supporters and those who may benefit from you with social media. It's cheap and quick and allows you to let these people know you haven't forgotten them, even though your physical materials have not been updated in awhile.

You won't be able to reprint everything as well as aggressively market and publicize everything for an August event for $15,000 but if you work creatively, on-point and consistently with all of it, you'll at least make a dent in the work.

Before you create a plan, have you and the Board agreed on a (measurable) goal? Without a goal, you're just throwing a party, spending money, with no ROI for your efforts. Start first with the desired outcome, and work backwards to create a plan/strategy to achieve it.

Thanks so much for all the suggestions - Jay, I agree wholeheartedly about the goal of our Anniversary celebrations. I don't want to spend the little funds I have and have no ROI - I am meeting with my Board Chair today to flesh out a measurable goal. Thanks to Karen and Gail for your help as well!!
