How To Increase Brand Awareness Of Church Members

Posted by sjohnp on 250 Points
I have been asked by a small financial institution to see what ideas I can suggest to help them build awareness of their company among regular church members, clergy and chaplins. The target audience are described as primarily male, over 55 years of age, located in Scotland and Northern Ireland and financially comfortable. The company is keen to encourage a response and build up a database. With only a limited budget I think clever PR is a sensible option. Consequently, I would like any thoughts/help on the following

1) Clever PR ideas which build interest and generate publicity which is good for the church and good the company

2) Ideas for building a database

3) How do you get church goers interested in finance

Ideas and thoughts most welcome

Thanks Phil and guess PR is more about building awareness of the brand and so any clever ideas which act as good PR for the church and it's members (clergy, church goers and chaplins etc) could be followed up with some direct mail and possibly some press advertising. I see PR as a way of building up the right environment for future activity

Have the company support the efforts of the church in their community. Instead of marketing to the church's membership, align with the church to do good locally, and therefore position the company well in the minds of the church membership.

Thanks Jay and agree with the concept of building a relationship between the company and the church but feel I need a few BIG ideas to get things noticed and talked about. ie run a big fund raising event and the church that raises the most money will get the amount doubled by the company

Can I say a special thank you for your input on my problem. You have provided me with some great ideas which will be good for the company, the Church and it's members and for me. I was interested about your thoughts for the Software as a Service but not sure exactly how this would work. If you have a simple explanation that would be great. Once again a massive thank you

Thanks again Russell and this could be a very sensible option longer term. In the meantime I will concentrate efforts on DM and PR awareness campaign. Let's hope the client loves it. Cheers. steve
