Promotion Ideas For Store Openings

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I see a lot of promotions where retailers give away either $50-$100 gas cards or visa/american express cards. We are opening a new nonprofit location and would like to offer a similiar promotion, but not sure how to go about getting gas cards/visa cards. Does anyone know how we would go about getting these donated or do retailers just purchases these for giveaway? Not sure if we should go through corporate channels or local channels for a donation on gas station, and not sure who to contact about a Visa/American Express card.

Run this like any other fundraising program -- ask for the donation. And why limit it to visa and gas cards. Giving a gift certificate to their stores is an in kind donation donors like. Say a retailer gave you a $50 certificate. Because they buy at wholesale, the $50 worth of merchandise only costs them $25. And almost always, the buyer spends more -- and potentially becomes a repeat customer.

Google Incentives mag-- they often run resources on gift cards.

Almost all of these have programs just for this reason. Just contact them directly. There are also rep companies that handle this for a fee.
