Vote On Business Name For My New Pr Company!

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
Hi all,
I'm starting my own PR and marketing consultancy and am torn between a few names. I want you guys to tell me honestly what you think of them! I have a few contacts in my state who will work as associates.

PR Republic - "revolutionizing communication"

Entourage PR - ??? need a slogan - help please! Could be something like "empowering your voice/message" or "defining your power of speech"
But was hoping for a slogan which acknowledged the team aspect of "entourage".

Soap Box PR - "we provide the platform"

Thanks,
Lila

To answer your question as you have framed it ...

    PR Republic
    We Provide The Strategy

Thanks Steve, I definitely like the word "strategy".

If those are the choices, I'd pick "PR Republic."

"Entourage PR" sounds like a specific kind of PR, and nobody will know what kind it is, even if they're familiar with the word "entourage."

"Soap Box PR" sounds like a place for people who just like to shoot off their mouths and yell at the world. Certainly not a professional sounding name.

Regardless of which name you pick, you'll need to make sure your tagline communicates your unique positioning benefit, because these three names don't do that.

What is your unique positioning benefit? Who is your primary target audience? Do you have a clear communication strategy?

Lila - With "We Provide The Strategy" add "To XXXXX" for example: "We Provide The Strategy To Small Businesses". Or eliminate "We" to create "Providing Strategy To Small Businesses".

    Lila,

Of the three, I'd favor Entourage PR. Republic PR sounds "old." I picture 70 year old men in brown suits in a dark boardroom with pictures of other 70 year old men from over the ages in the wall arguing about fixing the price for pork bellies futures. Soap Box PR sounds like something from the comics in the paper, not professional. Entourage PR is classy and professional without sounding SO old. I picture supermodels (men and women) in grey suits marching into a room all in step (you hear the click of their heels in unison) cue the techno music, they pull their chairs out in unison on one site of the table on either side of the client, sit down in unison, and plop their portfolio on the table is a slap, in unison that punctuates the end of the techno music intro. The etymology of entourage is French - surroundings or circuit (tour). How about "The tour de force for your message."

Another one that came to mind as I was reading your three:

Amped Up PR - We get you heard.

This is more Gen X and Gen Y aimed. A bit of a double entendre - amped being amplified and amped up in vernacular for exciting. Both fit well with your company image. The tagline is simple, direct, meaningful, short, and memorable.

    I hope this helps.

By the way, www.AmpedUpPR.com is available and a quick Google search didn't yield a company by this name.

A quick thought about the word "strategy" ...

I'm not so sure "strategy" has the connotation of action that you might want. I've used it to describe the kind of consulting I do, and I think many clients -- especially smaller businesses and entrepreneurs -- are drawn more to taking action than they are to planning, and "strategy" says "planning" to them.

I'd be the last person to say that strategy isn't critically important, but I'd be sensitive to how your target audience might respond to it. If this is an important issue for you, maybe a little market research would be in order.

Personally, I like them all -- and I'm in the business!

I have found, however, that the word "strategy" attracts mixed reviews and emotions. It's been so overused that it sounds political and somewhat empty. I also think people today would be more receptive to the action connotation.

I'm not going to diss Soap Box, either. You could create a credible and efficient business around the name, and have a boatload of creativity to use in your visuals.

Wow, thanks everyone! A wealth of knowledge and ideas at my fingertips! I am only young but I've had 10 years experience in the media industry as a journalist and political media advisor. I am leaning towards PR Republic because I actually think it sounds young and edgy, and I have a really cool logo to go with it. To me, "PR Republic" gives the impression of a dynamic, new company ready to take on the industry. Something young, energetic and revolutionary.

I don't have a specific target group, such as small business. I currently have a contract in the health sector, but I have also received interest from government departments etc.

My only thought is "revolutionizing communication" might be too vague for people who don't realize what "communication" I'm talking about (eg. marketing or phone services?!)

Perhaps I could replace with something like "revolutionizing your message" or "revolutionizing your power of speech" .... ????? Or "a revolution in marketing"

I really really like Entourage, although I'm sure people might think of the show Entourage straight away! And thanks Wayde for your response, I really liked that!
And thanks to Gail for your encouraging reply!

I wud agree with the answers above and i personally think
PR Republic sounds much better. Although u like Entourage, but lot of ppl may not know the word entourage and most of them would make mistake in pronouncing it correctly.

    My suggestion would be:

    PR Republic
    .... dedicated to deliver

    PR Republic
    .... we mean business

    PR Republic
    .... your voice to success

    PR Republic
.... because you deserve the best

    Hope it helps :)

I also think PR Republic is the best choice.
Slogan and Tag Line could be:

-- The Answer Behind Every Success
-- We Are Behind Every Success
