Marketing And Promoting A T Shirt Business

Posted by Anonymous on 25 Points
I am looking to start a part time business creating T shirts and would like some suggestions and recommendations as to how to approach this business. I come from a creative background so all the designs will be completed by me. My main target audience will be young, fashionable males who typically watch or involve themselves with MMA and UFC. The brand will need to be aggressive and catchy at the same time.

My theme that I have chosen to promote is Japanese warriors and icons.

Any suggestions on how and where to start! I am currently working on samples but need to implement a marketing strategy. What should I start by doing?

Go to where your target buyers hang out! Is it MySpace?

When you have a virtual storefront with designs, promote it in all social media locations where you think your potential customers will hang out. Also use all of your contacts. If you're into MMA and UFC, changes are you already have a physical network.

Throughout these times business owners and management have to get creative. Pull items that you might typically contract out might have to get pulled in house now. Find someone you think could grip some of the work and help them execute until they get the hang up of it.

I would suggest creating a few custom pieces with your website somewhere in the design and giving them to people within your target market. Create a Facebook or MySpace page and promote them there. This social media and word of mouth are you best options for starting small. This will be your least expensive option to build awareness....with your time being the biggest investment. Wear the shirts yourself, and maybe even suggest to your friends that they can get a "commission" on the shirts they help you sell. Promote them to girls as stylish gifts for boyfriends, brothers and husbands. Make the shirts afforable, people are only going to pay around $25 for a custom t-shirt in your beginning stages of "stardom." Starting small is your only option, with luck and wisdom you can build your company bigger. Follow your dream, just don't quit your day job for now! Believe in your product and have a true passion - that will radiate and make others believe in it! Best of luck to you. I hope I have helped!
