Corporate Communication Posters & Hmm...what Else?

Posted by ojfranklin on 500 Points
THE QUESTION: In addition to posters placed within breakrooms, what other "obvious" (and inexpensive) forms of corporate communication can I do for my client?

THE SITUATION: I am creating a compliance training program for one of my clients. The training will be ongoing for 3 years and reach 50K employees. Though the training is new and different, it will only last 2 hours each year and we're trying to think of ways to hit home the most salient points of the training throughout the rest of the year. The idea we've settled on is to have a new poster placed in the break-rooms each month for 36 months. The posters will be quality in both messaging and design, but I want to do something more.

The performance initiative has to do with the very serious topic of sexual misconduct in schools so please keep that in mind--we can't exactly do some of the more gimmicky MarCom gifts out there and the nice thing about the posters is that they are instructional.

    Too passive. Too easily ignored.

How about a jigsaw puzzle (completing) contest, pitting departments against each other? The image on the jigsaw? The poster graphics containing the salient points of the training.

A series of company/internal emails...handouts...taglines on the stub of the checks they receive...physical postcards delivered in their mail.

I agree with the email newsletter type thing. Not sure I agree with the comment of no less than once a week, as if this program only has 2 hours of training per year, it doesn't seem to be something that is that important to the company. But the emails do have to be frequent enough (so probably at least once per month).

I would also highlight cases where people where not in compliance, and the downside of that, along with when people are in compliance.

Emails of course are great but what about:

Real Postcards, mailed to the employees at their home address.

SCreen savers on the computers that dsiplay reminders and mor=tivational messages to reinforce the training

How about the DEck of cards like the US miiltary used.
Place one strong reminder on each card and give them a value. King of hearts, Queen of hearts are GOOD conduct cards (hearts meaning compassion, caring) King of Spades, Queen of Spades denote BAD behaior cards. etc.

Build a simple iPhone (android) APP that they can download in thier smart phones as a reference guide.

Make sure of course that you have a great web site resource that can be visited at any time with reminders and coaching tips on how best to deal with situations that inevitably arise.

Personally, I say FORGET the posters. THey are intrucive. Communicate personally one on one with the employees via their most common communications channels - email, smart phone and FaceBook of course :)

    Good luck.
