Start with a plan. Understand what success looks like for you. How much can you afford to spend to get a new client? How many clients do you want? How quickly?

As part of the process, define your ideal client. Where do they live? Who does their hair now? How do they decide which hairdresser to use? Do they switch often, or are they mostly loyal? What would they have to hear/learn to try someone new? How do they learn about new alternatives?

Talk to your current clients. Ask them some of these questions. Ask also if they would be willing to refer some friends. (Maybe even offer a small thank-you gift when they do.)

That's how I'd go about it. What do you think?

Word of mouth really works best in your business. I know someone who built her business by offering free haircuts (1st time) for any husband of a client.
