How To Make Use For A Bad Design Website?

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Hi all,
I do actually have a website to promote my products, i am doing some ornament and decorative products.
It happened that my website is up for 2 years already and it doesnt give me any return, low traffic, low brand awareness, no sales generated.
I understand that the design for the website is awkful, but i dont seems want to spend any money on this because im facing lost now, is there any way to do to increase the effect for my website?
Some user claim that the product pictures in the website is not too clear, and the desciption is not detail enough, but the purpose is i dont want the end user to fully view my products, as i want to attract them to come over to my showroom so i can promote them better. Is there any way to improve?
Appreciate for all your prompt reply.

Give a discount for every customer that comes into your showroom and tells you a specific way your website stinks. That rewards people to go to the website and allows you to make fun of yourself as well. However, if your website is THAT bad, replace it. Website redos aren't THAT expensive, relative the value of a sale (and a returning visitor)....

Thanks for all the response above, i understand what you guys meant but i just cant revamp it because the management dont allow me to do so, they want a way how to utilise the current website to generate some fruits.
Well, there are some ideas after gone thru your feedback, appreciate if you could give me some comments:
    1) We do have a very attractive facebook page now, even though the crowd is not up to our expectation yet because of the slow updates.
Do you think if I put my facebook link and icon on our website will help? Browser nowadays are super familiar with facebook and they own one even for their pets, When they browse our website, before go if they think our website is not attractive or the information that they looking for is not sufficient, they can go to our facebook to get more information, and we also can justify the response there on who are interested by go through their comments and the like page.
    2) Since the PULL strategy is not effective for my website, means we cant attract end user to be proactively visit our website before they come to our showroom, or visit my showroom because they been attracted by the website. Do you think i can try to apply the PUSH concept, means after the first purchase or visit from my showroom, we get them to register themselves a membership in our website and facebook. Then we will send a formal acknowledge email to them for print out, then get them to come over to redeem their membership card on the second visit ( in another way, we can also generate second visit from them). After that we will periodically send EDM or newsletter to them to update them about our latest products, and constantly create some promotion or contest to get their participation, so they will keep on visiting our website.

Appreciate for your comments and any new suggestion.

    1. If your website is really bad, then you're lucky that nobody has found it. The best thing you can do is not direct any traffic to the lousy website.

    2. If the problem is getting traffic to the website, then you have to re-examine your marketing plan. What have you done to generate awareness of the site among your target audience. Maybe you need some new marketing approaches. Websites don't generate their own traffic any more than storefronts in out-of-the-way places attract walk-in traffic.

    3. And if your management doesn't want to fix a lousy website, then they deserve to go out of business. Why not just close the site down or replace what's there with a simple headline and picture of the product/location, so it doesn't turn off a prospective customer? (You'll never get fruit from a dead tree.)

Maybe I just don't understand the problem. Is it the lousy website or the lack of traffic? Does management want the problem fixed or not? Do they expect you to turn lead into gold?

    Hello,

First of all get rid of all the upgrading thoughts cause you said it is impossible. So start thinking some new ways to bring in customers. You suggested using facebook which always helps. Facebook looks like a medicine to all illness these days. Start promoting there.

My firs suggestion was to use the internet. You said your brand awareness is not good among customers. If you are a internet person which means some quality time surfing the internet, why not look for forums. Ornaments and kinds are great products to promote in forums. Advertise your website in these web sites that you will find and try to put your website in to the faces of people. talk about your website. Tell them something about your product. Make them visit your website. After brand awareness is complete you will see the fruits dropping from above..

    Best Luck,

No use trying to beat a dead horse right? Well if you really want to drive traffic to your site even if you know you're probably not going to convert most of them then what's the point? If you must, then do SEO to drive traffic but even with a stellar site that's a challenge and with sub par onpage optimization it's like bringing a pair of boxing gloves to a gun fight if you're just going to build links .
