Hundreds Of Phone Numbers Or One Vanity Number?

Posted by Anonymous on 100 Points
I come from a typical DR background where we use hundreds, sometimes thousands of numbers to track our media.

I've recently been approached with the opportunity to buy a great vanity number for my brand.

I am curious how other people see the benefits of vanity number or hundreds of numbers, or vice versa.

Also, what type of results could I expect in this type of transition?

I think having a vanity number is a great idea if you've got people you can trust to track the calls.

Sure makes life simpler when it comes to finding out how to reach your company by phone: ONE memorable number!

I'm in Chicago where at least 1 carpet company uses it's number as part of the advertising. There are many others.

IF you plan to use the number as the focus (awareness) then it is good. OTherwise, I see no advantage to changing.

I'm with michael. Most of the time a vanity number doesn't really solve the problem because remembering the number isn't the problem. It's not having the right incentive to call.

So unless you expect to spend a lot of money to register the vanity number with your target audience, why not instead give them a compelling reason to contact you. If it's a strong enough reason, people will find you and call -- even without a vanity number.
