Shopping Mall Grand Opening

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Hi Guys,

We are opening a shopping mall on February 2011. We need help on ideas for the events not promotions. An out of the box ideas. Something unique. Events targeting the kids below 12.

We are thinking of a parade, concert, laser show. Is there anything else you can think of?

By the way the mall is in Bahrain.

Thank you in advance.

Street entertainers ... jugglers, magicians, minstrels, pantomimists, puppeteers, musicians, face-painters, etc. ... wandering through the mall and engaging the kids in a friendly, fun interaction.

Roller/inline skating day. Let the kids roll around the mall, into stores, with fun obstacle course / skate park features. Invite local kid experts to demonstrate their stuff. Consider crazy contests like: take the best photo while skating as fast as you can, texting a message while skating (most accurate/fastest), etc.

I have the same suggestions as mgoodman. Bring in also mascots. Kids love mascots. Designate places in the mall for family picture taking. Create different themes in these designated places. A fairy tale scene with some of the characters roaming around the spot like Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood and the Fox, etc. A Disney theme with Mickey and his friends.

If those are not possible, why not create your own mall mascots. The mascot will be your identity. Kids will surely love it.
