Bmx Racing Awarness

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
Hi Marketing Experts!!

I have a client that is into BMX Racing and is wanting to raise awareness and excitement of BMX Racing in our city of Colorado Springs, Colorado.

I am not only trying to go after the child and parent but also drive in fund-raisers to help with funds. Of course I am on a low budget and would definitely have to be a guerrilla marketer on this project. Any Ideas??

His current website is
https://www.pikespeakbmx.org/

Thanks in advance for all the ideas and help!

Colorado Springs is a great sports media market. Invite reporters whom you know are into "Extreme Sports" to enjoy an hour (or more, if time allows), to learn to race. Having members of the media get on board will help communicate the fun and excitement factor. You will be able to show these clips to people you solicit for fund raising.

Also, approach potential funders who align with your product. Those who go after similar audiences are most apt to jump on board.

Thanks guys. Pikes Peak is 17 miles 1 way and since these are BMX bikes with only 1 gear, that would be a hard task to accomplish. These bikes are mainly for a single track with some small jumps, woops and turns. Thanks for the thoughts and keep em coming!

I've done this kind of thing multiple times. If you are thinking you'll do a campaign and they'll just come calling-- think again. Your event needs one on one contact. You need to find a champion from a potential sponsor to walk your sponsorship thru the red tape.

WHen I do this, the committee (usually board members as it is their function to fund their event). We create a "hit list" and sit and ask "who knows who". You'll be amazed-- someone has a neighbor, a member at church-- we divvy up the potentials and hit the phones.

If you just mail, or do some mass campaign, you will waste the few dollars you have. Do you want 2% return? Stack your bets!

Consider approaching municipalities' youth-based groups (e.g. park & rec departments or even business develpment depts) scout groups, church youth groups, etc. Towns/cities/scout/church groups and/or businesses (retail, corporate or media) could sponsor individuals or establish teams. Any of the above would welcome the potential public relations benefit, possibly multiplying your own media opportunities,
