Small Clothing Business 10th Birthday Ideas?

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
We have a small clothing business that has been open for almost 10 years. Our target customer age group is between the range of 16-35. We specialize in handbags, accessories shoes and clothes both casual and dressy. We would like to do something for our customers for our 10th birthday which will be at the end of Summer. The ideas we have had have been used by other similar businesses in town for 1st birthdays etc. So I was just thinking if maybe anyone else has an idea about what we could do to celebrate. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Bring in a small local band and have a mini concert near your place of business -- with music of the people you target, of course. It will entertain customers and bring attention to your business. Celebrate=dance!

    Thank you for your reply. I will mention that, we do have many young bands in our town so that could be a possibility. Thanks again.

    you could ask your customers for ten reasons to go to your store on one piece of paper - they keep a copy and you list all of them online or on a large billboard in the store. Then have your customers vote (maybe several votes, even 10) on which reason they favor.
    On your anniversary you''ll see top ten reason to go to your store and the person(s) with ten top-ten reasons (or top-nine, top-eight) get a prize ...
    This activity could be away to drive new customers to your store and easily communicated online

    Your 10th birthday isn't an event your customers care about. What they care about is what you can do for them today. So, how about having a customer contest to pick a worthy charity to support - or perhaps 10 - 1 per month. Or pick 10 customers as winners to receive a store credit.

    For consideration:

    Window display contrasting fashion trends of 10 yrs ago and today; pick one day (anniversary date?) where personnel wear ''retro'' fashions.

    Contest where customers can submit photos of themselves in fashions (preferably bought at your business) over the 10 year history. Post photos in the store(s) and/or post them online; people can vote on their ''favorites.'' Winner(s) get a discount coupon, mention in the local press and picture posted in store/online.

    If you decide to go with an entertaining ''party'' theme to celebrate yourselves, offer casual refreshments (cake or cupcakes w/logo, store ''colors'' etc.) to all.

    Have fun!

    Agree with Jay....customers don't care about celebrating your anniversary.

    Re: don't want to do what others have done. Why not? Sometimes they're good approaches.

    How about 10% off on all items over $10 for 10 days.

    @Michael
    I think that is good idea. Thanks for suggesting this. There is a possibility we could do this.

    @Jay
    Thanks for your response. I know that customers won't really care about the anniversary and that is why we want to do something for them on that day. I like your idea about the store credit.

    @Marketbase
    Thanks for those ideas. I will mention these to be considered.

    @Markitek
    The 10% off promotion is something that we could do. Thanks for you reply.

    Thanks to everyone who has posted. I really appreciate the input.
