Www.slimads.com - Classifieds On Steroids

Posted by Anonymous on 25 Points
We recently opened our site for users - www.slimads.com . What do you all think of the site ? our new way of presenting listings ? Facebook app allows users to share the listing with their social network and also publish it on fan pages . Businesses can create a product listing, coupon , publish it in facebook fan pages etc.. slimads can be used fordigital business cards , portfolios, buying and selling items online
when tweeted , link tweeted when clicked in a smart phone only loads the slimad .. users can post text, images, video - all that is required for marketing a product or service in one listing . no more jumping around multiple sites such as youtube for video or flicker for images ..

As we continue to build our next version , we are seeking marketing experts to critique our service and our site ..

Slimads are rich media , viral widgets/listings for the WEB, TV, MOBILE AND PRINT ..
Slimads = QRCODES for the Masses .. TV app for samsung to be released soon ..

The site doesn't have any hint of who your target audience is or why they might want to look into it. Who? What? Why? Where?

Very confused about what the benefit might be (and for whom).

    Thanks for responding

    Ok here it is
Target audience = users and businesses large and small
What we offer = a distribution platform and a marketplace- compare us to craigslist , gumtree or any other classifieds site
Why ? - We make it easier to post and share rich media viral listings /widgets.
we already are working on a revised landing page which gives users an idea of what slimads is about and gets the message CLEAR AND LOUD .

but what do the marketers in here think of the concept ? use of slimads within facebook - slimads can be published into facebook fan pages . as stated uses of slimads are many ...

One person's reaction: It's a solution looking for a problem. Doesn't scratch an important itch.

I could be very wrong, and I might not really understand the magic. But then I may not be representative of your target audience ("users and businesses large and small").

And FWIW, that target audience has billions of people in it. You might want to narrow it somewhat -- at least initially. It's going to be hard to come up with a message that's relevant to all those people ... and extremely expensive to deliver your message to them.

"no more jumping around multiple sites such as youtube for video or flicker for images."

Really? No one would ever know.

The Facebook app you mentioned is nowhere to be found.

You tell your user NOTHING up front, at the top of the page, about what you want them to do and how that can take advantage of your service.

And you want people to advertise with you?

Again, really? And you tell people this where, exactly?

As your potential customer, SHOW ME HOW or I'll walk.

This is a giant step in the right direction.

The issue now is that the page is all about FEATURES, and the BENEFIT is hard to find (or maybe not even there). Certainly the net take-away from the homepage is FEATURES, FEATURES, FEATURES. (How it works, what you have to do, what the steps are, etc.)

The closest thing I can find to a benefit is that it gets rid of a negative ("tired"): "Are you tired of posting ads in the old fashioned way?"

For those people who are really tired of posting ads the old fashioned way, this will probably be an attractive alternative. Most people, though, are more likely to want results from their efforts, not just freedom from the frustration of being tired of doing something.

Why not promise results -- a positive benefit -- rather than elimination of the negative? Do most of the people in your target audience say that their biggest problem is that they are "tired of posting ads the old fashioned way?" It's best if you can use THEIR words to express their greatest unmet need.
