Increasing Male Traffic & Conversion

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Hi

Im looking for some interesting ideas to increase both male traffic to my site and increase the conversion of our current traffic.

What is important to the male shopper?

Price?
Usability?
Speed of purchase?
sales incentives?
Offers?
Free Delivery?
Garment Appearance?
Whether there wife / girlfriend shops on the same site so she can order for him?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Brad

I think this very much matters on what you are selling. Presumably it is clothing, as you talk about "garment appearance"?

Also very much matters about what the demographics of the targeted men are. For example, if they are teens or in their 20s, most will be single, so the wife/girlfriend seeing it likely wouldn't be important.

Where? What country? What sub-segment of "men?" What are you selling? Why might they want to buy from you instead of one of your competitors?

How are they finding your site today? How do you encourage conversion? What are the barriers to closing a sale? Have you optimized and tested your landing pages? Are they effective?

Many questions. No simple answers. We need more information if we're really going to be helpful to you.

    Brad,
Men are not a monolithic group so you've got to give a little more information. You can apply some "logic" tests just based on male vs female brain but beyone that we need more.

For me, short term cost is more important than long term cost....depending on the item.

Hi Guys thanks for your comments so far.

Basically, i work for a fashion brand that are very popular with all age ranges of females but not so much with men. The most valued female demographic shop for the whole family hence the wife or girl friend will pick something up for there man comment.

There has been no real effort put in to driving a target male demographic as we are at a cross roads as to whether to encourage female shoppers to shop mens more or go out and find new male customers?

i am currently looking at the best ways to build some content to support any marketing that we do and to try and encourage more social interactions with male fans and followers (which at present is less than 15%) to see exactly what they do want and what they are looking for to encourage them to shop more.

Hope this helps a little more

    Thanks

    Brad
