Start by seeing what your competition is doing: how they sell, their pricing, their marketing message, etc. Then figure out who they're NOT selling to, why people wouldn't buy from them, etc. That's one piece of your marketing puzzle - your opportunity. Build your business wisely around the people who are under-served.

Figuring what the ompetition is doing is the first step. You also need to look at ways to improve upon wht the compettion is doing while at the sme time targeting who they are not selling to. launching your store with a big gamers competition is also a good idea. Additonally collecting info via the social network to provide gift cards on customers birthdays or free games. Another way is to provide disconts to customers who buy game enitre series of game titles. You also need to look at locatiosn that are high traffic for your target market.

mere bhai, first of all hope u have done feasibility study on this one because in india Piracy is a big issue..u get specially rigged PS and X Boxes to play pirated games..in case pf portables , the new mobiles can have a dampening effect on the handheld portables. That said and done , there might be some tighter regulations that may come in. Short point be very sure of this business!

    Now to the operational part
u cant open just a gaming =shop cause that delivers no value.U might have great title selections but that is easily copiable and scalable.
what you need is a fresh offering..open an parlour cum cafe cum sales shop..allow youngsters to play on certain games, maybe demo versions etc. may be u can even charge them for it. Have a f& B facility inside.could be a third party vendor our u. Then u also have sales and titiles. this gives u three diff revenue streams. plus increases avg footfalls and time spent per person .These are the two sacrosanct parameters for retail sales.

PR can be through Social networking, customized t shirts, etc..that one is a easy part.

Basically i agree with the other people above and must emphasize that it should be the business model u shud be worried about instead of ads and PR

Thank you all for your inputs. Well Phil, my header need didnt mean to get a free plan but to understand the gamers mind set or any activity which can be done to induce them to come to this exclusive outlet to buy their gaming accessories. The traditional way of advertising branding will be anyways done but something which indian audience must have not experienced but done in US or UK. Hope this is clear.

For Jay and others - well this is 1st such outlet to be opened in India which is authorised by the parent company of the games apart from these gaming accessories, cd''s sold in Planet M, Croma and other digital space who do brand their stores than individual product. So drawing a comparison or doing an analysis is becoming a little difficult, though have done some research on the same lines. Thank you.

Well to be clearer, I aint opening a store/shop I own an adverting agency and was looking for insights,so the logistics/operational part is been taken care by the client.

    Thank you all once again!

When you are taking about kids and games you are talking about three things: socialization, adrenaline, and power fantasies.

When you are a kid you live in a world where demands are made of you by other people…your choices are constrained, your voice ignored, and your options few.

Video games offer an escape from all that…in them you get to become powerful, respected, even feared if you've got the skills. Many games have lots of action…the kids immersed in that action live off the adrenaline rush of one on one or group combat….look at the online world of such titles as Gears of War, Warcraft, and Halo.

In these worlds you meet friends, share adventures, and never want to leave. The social aspect of these games is not the main thing…but it the game is really good…the social networks formed are the cream cheese icing on the cake.

Appeal to a sense of adventure, the opportunity to have power, to take blood pumping risks, and to adventure with your friends in a world wide community. Look at the cover art for a lot of these games…teen age boys in futuristic armor wielding giant swords….think man…you know exactly what you are dealing with…skinny kids who are near the end of every real life pecking order…but there…they rule, and if you cross them they will waste you. That's your market…or at least a big portion of it.
