Need Help With Co-op Money And Sponsorship Forms

Posted by Anonymous on 25 Points
Hello, I am working with a small housecleaning business. Annual income is about 200,000 after 5 yrs. of service. Every year their sales has increased 30%. They are an A+ Rated company on Angie's List and retreive 95% of their customers from them. They have decided to go to Florida's Largest Home Show and have asked me to help them raise money for the printing of about 50,000 brochures. I want to start going to businesses in our local area that relate to Home Improvement to see if they would like to sponsor them and in return have a business card ad put in the brochure that we will distribute at the 4-day Home Show. I need help with figuring out how to charge for this? What formula do I use? I also need help with requesting Co-Op Money from our vendors. I don't know where to start. Any wonderful ideas? Any templates for these types of forms that I can use....PLEASE HELP! I have already spoken to Dyson Vacuums since we want to do "A Dyson A DAY Give-Away" to 4 winners and are asking for their support but I need all the help I can get.

You better start by figuring out why a sponsor would want to participate. What's in it for them? Unless you can demonstrate a benefit for them, you're not likely to get them to support the effort.

A better question: Why does your client need to raise money to have the brochures printed? If the cost of the brochures doesn't make sense for them, maybe they shouldn't print them.

50,000 flyers shouldn't cost more than $2,000 to print. If they can't justify that (1% of sales), then perhaps it's not worth the effort. How is it they can afford to go to Florida's largest home show and can't afford $2,000 for flyers? Could it be that they don't think the flyers will generate enough new business to cover the cost?

As for how YOU should charge for this, I'd run away from this client. If they can't afford to have flyers printed, they certainly can't afford to pay you a fair fee for this project.

Get at least 50% of your fee up-front. And be careful with this client.
