How To Get Groupon/livingsocial Results For Improv

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
We have an improv theater in Oakland. We've had great luck with the Groupon and Livingsocial offers. My question is how do we accomplish the same with our own efforts?

We poster and flyer heavily. Would TV and Radio be the turning point? I assume with a discounted limited time offer?

Or is it building a bigger email list and then pushing the offer to the list?

Or????

Get actively involved using Twitter and Facebook, making sure to follow and ENGAGE with people in your area -- your prospective guests. When you develop dialogue, post offers such as the ones that have been successful with Groupon and LivingSocial. Word will get around and you'll build your follower and guest list.

You won't get the volume, especially initially, that the other services provide, but you'll build a following of people who will pass the word along to their friends.

If Groupon & Livingsocial are working for you, why not continue using them? You can up your door price (to $20) and make the discount be your current price (50% off = $10).

Email is good, because you can tell who reads your message and who acts on it. Social media would be the natural companion as well. And do consider taking your show to the people - there are many events in the area that could benefit from a diversity of performers.
