Hans - let's start by what you want your website to do for you.

Who specifically are you trying to attract?
What are you trying to sell them?
Why should they care about your website?
Why would your website be better/different from your competition?
What's your marketing plan for getting people to visit your site?
    How will you define success?

The website's appearance is important, but it's more important that you have the right offer for the right people you're trying to attract.

    Hello Jay,

Thanks :) for your quick response. The basic idea of website is..... The website will have two main sections one is upcoming and second published. And published items will show on front page of website. Every new item will be submit in upcoming sections and it have to get minimum 5 votes to move to frontpage/published page.

I want to target USA teenagers. If you see above websites. They are running on same structure but ideas are different. Topbargains is for bargains/deals and tonesall for mp3 ringtones. I am looking for "99floats for what?"

    Thanks Hans

You''re going about this ass backwards. Simply because you''ve come up with what you think is a great domain name and registered it does not mean that the name of the domain or any of its content will be at all appealing to anyone.

I''ve read your original question four times and it STILL makes no sense.

"The website will have two main sections one is upcoming and second published. And published items will show on front page of website. Every new item will be submit in upcoming sections and it have to get minimum 5 votes to move to frontpage/published page."

Explain, slowly, what this means. Votes from whom? To drive the content where and for what purpose? To engage which audience? And why and with what outcome or call to action?

    Hans ,

We can feel your enthusiasm and you've definitely come to the right place to ask your question about this matter. It is unfortunate though that your question is a bit vague and you've assumed that everyone here understands how the Pligg CMS works .

I'm familiar with the Pligg CMS as I run one myself ,it is a CMS that allows registered members to submit links (these will be stored in the upcoming section) and the admin/ moderator vets the good submissions to appear on the news or frontpage section . Once in the frontpage the members can vote up or down links based on their perception of the value of the submission, the higher the vote the further up the fold it goes. Members get rewarded "karma points" for voting and basically doing stuff on the site.

Pligg sites get spammed a lot because of some bots that auto register and submit. They are also vulnerable to security breaches and the community is not as big as the big 3 open CMSs (Wordpress,Joomla and Drupal) .

A lot of Pligg sites monetize thru advertising rather than selling a particular product or service the most successful of which is bizsugar.

Now to answer your question my honest opinion if you are really married to the Pligg platform and want to target USA teens I would run a teen interest site where the users can submit links to the latest gadgets, movies , gossip, (whatever floats their boats)etc . I would then make the votes count in increments of 10 and once they hit anything above 99 votes it floats ... and they get a reward or something . The way to monetize is up to you but I would recommend banner ads or adsense.

I wish you the best of luck and I hope this helps you out
