Re-designing Web Site- Looking For Recommendations

Posted by sbreigle on 250 Points
We are re-designing our company web site (B-to-B; we are leadership development consulting and training firm) and I am looking for a book that is a solid how-to guide from start to finish--(not beginner but not too technical either--with a focus more on the project management side). What recommendations do you have?
Also, who can recommend a good web site design/development firm to work with in the Boston area?

    sbreigle,

About 3 years ago I published a book to help business owners, such as yourself, to get through the process of website development and dealing with web designers. It is available from Amazon UK isbn 9780716030201 and is called Internet Marketing How to get a Website that Works for Your Business. There are 30+ reviews from readers who found it very useful.

In the book I have tried to write the content so it can be understood by those who are not technologically minded. The price in the UK is £5.58 on Amazon and the link is https://www.amazon.co.uk/Internet-Marketing-Website-Works-Business/dp/07160... I would assume that you will have top pay carriage.

    Good luck with your project.

    Kind regards

For me i would not recommend any book to you but to propose to redesign your website instead.

I work with HOSTNET UGANDA, based in Uganda, and we have partners in India. we can do whatever you want us to do.

The most important thing that you should know before you hire a design firm, is this: What do you want your users to do when they arrive on your home page? You need to be very clear on what your business objectives are and how the website will help you achieve them. You want the website to make it easy for your user to do what you want such as buy a product, sign up for newsletters, etc... You also need to know what your budget is. A more complicated site will be more expensive.

Home pages are so yesterday. Think of your digital interaction with current and potential clients as an engagement experience that starts with a landing page specific for each type of client/prospect. Tim Ash, author of Landing Page Optimization, and CEO of https://sitetuners.com/ is a great resource for helping your company rethink your digital engagement strategy.
