Employee Recognition Program

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Hello -
I work for an ad agency and we are developing an employee recognition program for one of our clients. We have done email recognitions this past year, but want to do something more for 2012. We will base the recognition on production efficiencies and sales wins for the company. Can't be too elaborate, like a trip to Maui. A couple options we've come up with so far are a trip to the company headquarters to meet with upper management, $500 VISA gift card, dinner for two, special parking place, recognition with a professional photo and bio on an "All Stars" wall, etc. Have any of you had any success with employee recognition? What do you think would work well to effectively recognize employees of all types of work (management, admin, sales, line workers) among their peers? Thanks in advance for your help!

You need something so that everyone can feel like a winner. I worked with one company and we did lotto scratch cards. They imprinted the cards with their own logo -- and for each sales the employee could draw one. Most of them were not for anything, just a draw in another lottery drawing. But others were anything from a $5 starbucks, walmart, target to $10, $25 and $50. The $25 and $50 included visa cards.

Once a week the company would draw from the cards that just said "lottery" and awarded other prizes. They did this for a month, or until the cards were gone.

I think lottery is good but it does not still attract customers.
Offer customer card. Your customers can use card to save points depending on their payment, example 200 USD he/she can get 20 points... When get 50 points or 100 points, they can use their point to buy products. Cannot change into cash from the points. It depends on your campaign or the value of your benefit, you can set points suitable to percentage of your products.

As to above post-- this is a contest for employee appreciation. When employees are appreciated, they are incented to push harder for sales.

Marcus echo's mine and others posts. He is right, a sales contest will produce the same winners. So the others take the "so what" attitude.

I will tell you of a lady who was not a big producer. She came off medical leave and was discouraged. She hit 2 $50 visa gift cards in the program I described. Just luck. Her results went up, the smile went back on her face, you could see the pride. And the internal emails went to promote "Miss Susan scratched $100!" incenticized everyone else. This woman has over 20 years tenure in the company, but on a sales floor, that means little. I have no clinical proof of course, but nothing else changed-- except her results.
