Hi all,

Need your help!

Good friend is working for non for profit organisation as sustainability manager. He recently started program where old fridges are degassed and turned into a worm farms. He has approached marketing department and asked for assistance to advertise worm farms in schools and they have engaged Graphic designer to produce attached brochure.

You can view brochure here:

Marketing department is in love with this brochure and they think it is fantastic piece of visual communication, engaging and it sends out message loud and clear to potential buyers. To me it looks pretty weak. Anyway, friend asked if I can get some constructive feedback on brochure from other Visual Artist / Graphic Designers as he is very keen to see program succeed but also feels that this piece is not representing it properly. Before he goes back to the marketing department and gives them feedback he would like to hear what community thinks.

Brief was to create brochure that will explain story behind old fridges becoming worm farms, and engage with strong call to action to become "Green Partner" and buy a worm farm.

I have blacked out name of the organisation and his personal details as that is not important.

Thank you and looking forward hearing your constructive feedback!

It's an interesting project. The problems I see with the brochure are that other commercial worm farms: cost much less, are easier to transport, take up less space, are apparently safer (no chance of a kid climbing into the old fridge and getting locked in), and can be left outside in the elements. If someone already has a school farm, likely they're aware of worm composting, so you need to convince them why YOUR box is the better choice.
