Need Catchy Name For Private School Newsletter

Posted by admissions on 250 Points
We are trying to come up with a catchy name for a new community newsletter for our private Jewish day school. The acronym of our school is SHAS, which stands for Striar Hebrew Academy of Sharon. The purpose of the newsletter is to reach out to the larger community to inform them of the wonderful learning and character-building that happens in our school. Any ideas would be much appreciated!

Why "catchy?" You're trying to communicate a very important and serious benefit. If your newsletter sounds cute or "catchy" people will assume your positioning is that way too. I'd play it straight and make sure your message comes across.

FWIW, I also think SHAS is not helping you. Nobody knows what SHAS is unless/until they read the whole name, and even then they probably don't know what Striar means/is. You really need a tagline that tells people who you are, what you do, and why they should care. And once you have a great tagline, perhaps you can use it to name your newsletter.

Additional thought: Instead of targeting the "larger community" with your newsletter, why not focus on the real target audience and the action you'd like them to take. What's the benefit of informing people about the learning and character-building if there is no action for them to take?

By "larger community" are you speaking of non-Jewish community? That would make a difference in your choice.

The community we are targeting is parents, grandparents, Jewish community members in the school''s town, and donors.
