How To Get Advertisers For An Online Magazine?

Posted by Anonymous on 25 Points
Hello,
I own and operate an online magazine, Corillo Magazine, with over 3.4 million views (3,492,285 Document Views) so far in the three months it has been up and running. Most of the readers are from the US, Canada, Central & South America as the magazine is Latin-Urban Music & Culture based. As of now most of the ad revenue comes from connections within the Latin Music community, selling pages of ads to artists -- usually with small budgets in other words not a lot of money is being generated.

I was wondering if there are any companies or a way of getting companies or individuals to buy ads in the magazine. If so, how do I go about getting those individuals interested in buying ads. I already have demographic maps and a list of prices set up.

Here is the magazine's latest two issues (2 of 4):

December 2011 -- https://issuu.com/corillomagazine/docs/corimagdecemeber2011

November 2011 -- https://issuu.com/corillomagazine/docs/corimagnov2011

Identify niches of advertisers that will fit your reader demographics. Then identify the list of companies that fit that list. Get on the phone and start calling.

Remember that the advertiser wants to sell product, so make sure you have a strong case to tell them your reader is also their customer.

Be prepared to make deals to get the first onboard and keep them onboard. Keep in close touch with them, your goal is to make sure this is a good experience with them.

DON'T go the route saying with 3 gazillion readers wouldn't just 10% of those buying something make a difference to you? Cause they've heard that before and they'll tune you right out. Of course they want sales, but they also want to be sure your brand will enhance their brand.

Start dialing, you'll find out where you stand, how you compare, and where you need to be.
