Do-it-yourself Site That Will Manage Merchant Acct

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I am an amateur photographer with prints to sell but I don't want to deal with the credit card piece. I also want to be able to construct my own simple site, show my prints on the site, and accept orders through a reputable third party that will handle payments. So, I need the site to alert me of an order once paid for with a credit card. I would need the third party to do refunds for any returns.

I can do all of the fulfillment and returns but just need the $ piece handled for me as well as the ability to have a flexible template to set up my site.

I also work for a non profit and we use Network for Good that allows us to create template donation pages and they handle all of the billing and take their fees out of the sales.

Is there such a company out there?

Thank you in advance!

You are in a creative field, photography. As such, I would strongly advise against pre-designed, template-driven web application to create a web site.

You want your brand to convey and reflect your creativity and a do-it-yourself web site will do an enormous amount of damage to that brand.

Now that I've given you my lecture on branding, on to your question. Paypal is a pay-per-transaction service that will allow you to embed a "buy" button into your pages. Paypal will notify you when a purchase is made, will handle returns, etc. This is free to set up, again, you pay transaction fees only when you make a sale.

    Hope this helps...

Thank you Dawnie. I don't have the resources to do my own site, so I may have to go the template route at first. The PayPal idea is great. Hopefully, people can still pay w/ a regular credit card using PayPal. I'll do the research.

Glad I could help. Yes, you can use standard, bank issued credit cards on PayPal...
