How Many Photos For A Press Release?

Posted by lstevens on 50 Points
I'm about to send a press release to several trade publications about a B2B event we recently hosted. I have several photos, but don't know how many to send with the press release. Is it better to give editors options or is it better to keep it simple and send just one?

If you know and work with these trade pubs on a regular basis, just send the release and tell them High-Rez print quality photos are available if they want them. (Assuming those are the kind you have :)

If these are blind releases, include ONE photo, NOT more than 1 MG (and bear in mind that sometimes attachments are just stripped out anyway) and DON'T embed it or place it in a Word document, PPT file or any other heinous invention. Just pop it and the text into an email. Again, include that other photos are available if desired.

Include a caption for the photo you do send, and be sure to identify people, check the spelling, etc.,

Or... put the whole thing into pitchengine.com where you CAN include several photos but still only have to send a brief note and a link.

    Best,

I agree with Mandy. One photo with knowledge that more are available would my recommendation. Make sure you have an eye catching subject line on your email and great title to article to encourage reading what you are providing...and don't make too long...make sure your contact information is there in case they need additional information.

Also, if emailing, put release into body of email. Many publications will not open attachments. I usually embed as well as attach, just in case.

    Good luck!
