Piplu: we have a lot of advice for you on this subject. I'm sure as a consultant you can appreciate how much it helps you when people give you a lot of the scenario outline information up front. Some of us have been consultants in the past and would love to give you contemporary advice but we need a little more information.

Are you located in the city or in the rural community?
What degree longitude and latitude are you located in the global economy?
What kind of food do you specialize in?
Who would you consider your primary customer?

you have not mentioned where this resturant of yours is located or what are the objectives and as Michelle pointed out Continental means different in different places. the following are some ideas for 1 Year celebration

1. organize 3 day long celebration at the restaurant premises.

2. Cuisine Contest: organize a contest through newspaper in which people can prepare any Continetnal cuising at their home, then send that item to your restaurant along with the entry form printed inthe newspaper and the recipe they used. All these items will be displayed and voted by the consumers (and the chefs) who come during the time. The winning item will have the person's name (the consumer who cooked the item at home) as the item name and will be included in your restaurants special item menu. you can add a more prizes to make it more attractive.

3. Coupon + amount = 3 successive Meals: Through newspaper distribute coupons which will allow consumers to have 3 same buffet meals (either lunch or dinner) on 3 consecutive days (celebration period). Consumers will have to bring the coupon and pay a fixed amount (lower than 3 meals cost combined) to avail this promotion.

4. Membership Card: Provide membership card in association with either VISA, Master, Diners Club etc. to all your top clients and ensure that they get some benefits by using those.

5. this is really wild, why not you provide your top clients with Membership Ring. Invite them on the celebration time and provide them with the ring in Champagne (just like how guys propose to girls, ;)).
