Pr Marketing In Food And Beverage

Posted by Anonymous on 25 Points
Hi all!
May i know what does PR and Marketing does in the F&B field? do we have to attend events enquiries from people that want to launch a party in a restaurant? what is the difference between an operation manager?

I am new to this field and i feel there are things I'm not supposed to do like meeting drinks suppliers and all.

I just wanna have a clear idea.

Thanks!

For those like me who don't know the F&B acronym off the top of our heads - I assume it is Food & Beverage?

Your questions are pretty broad, and we have no background. be useful if you could answer what you do (job title, duties, etc.) and what your company dies, as a start.

Sadly, what you may "feel" isn't part of your job may well be just that: if it's part of your job description, and if it helps drive sales IT'S YOUR JOB.

Sadder still is that in order to PRESENT you with a clear idea it's helpful to have a clearly written question.

PR is to do with the public's perception of the product in the media. Marketing's role is to tell the story and to leverage the benefits of the product as they'll impact the life of the potential buyer. They're related but distinct in their functions, and in the way they support the mission of the brand.

As for the category, food and beverage is WAY too wide, so here, niche it down and an offering of some specificity would help.

Not throw events but mainly market the events. Create events though too that are very market able.

    Hi guys,
I apologized for the vague question that i have posted.

Currently I am working under the position of PR and marketing for a bar restaurant, but i was placed under here temporary. soon, i'll be handling a beach bar.

however, I am a student who just graduated from fashion marketing. I know the basic fundamentals of marketing and i know marketing for a beach bar will be different from fashion. but when i was in school, doing marketing was more on social media and launching of products. i heard in the food and beverage industry i have to plan events that has to be successful so we can drive sales for our company.

however, my 'operation manager' are making me do things like : handling of customers that want to have a party at our location (events enquiry), making me meet up with alcohol suppliers to see what kind of freebies they could give if we are selling their alcohol and even handling a job event exhibition booth.( a career exhibition for local to come and apply for job)

does my job consist of these?

    please guide me. thank you.

An attitude of "That's not my job!" is the kind of thinking that could get you replaced.

True, fashion marketing and bar marketing are not exactly hand in glove fields, but marketing is marketing. If your operations manager is saying "I need you to do X, Y and Z." then it's pretty much what you need to do. Either that or start looking for another job.

Seeing this as "the glass is overflowing" sets you up to learn how to handle these situations, giving you valuable experience you can use in the rest of your career.

Life may not be fair but it might be time for you to stop moaning about what is and isn't "your job" as you see it and for you to be at least a little bit thankful that you currently HAVE a job.

Like it or not, fresh out of college as you are you are not owed a living and sadly, you learn by starting at the bottom. Tough lesson to learn but we've all been there.
