Tagline For Online Blog

Posted by Anonymous on 500 Points
Hi Folks,

I am in the process of creating an online blog: (www.gopanko.com)

The blog name is: Go Panko!

This blog will cover the following topics:
-Movies
-Football & other sports
-Technology
-Books

It is targeted towards the people who love all (or some) of the above topics.

All the blogs will be short in length.

I need your help in finalizing the tagline for this blog.
I will prefer the short tagline. It will be great (but not mandatory) if it rhymes with GoPanko.

I need to finalize it within a couple of days.

Thanks a lot for your help in advance!
Wishing you all a very happy new year!

Regards,

Pank

    Lightning insights from Pankaj

    Midfielder thinking ( ... I'm no footballer, so take your pick of them!)

    On the pitch and afterwards too

    Inspirations at the weekend

    You can also change the tagline as you get to know your audience better.

    :) Thanks Moriarty for your response! The taglines you have suggested are nice but more related to football.

    I am thinking on the theme - 'netizens coming together to collaborate, think and discuss about the topics of their common interests!'

    I have one in the mind - ' In Unison'.

    What do you think about it?

    Thanks once again! :)

    Hi Pank

    I have serious doubts when generalized taglines are used. Because nobody can please everybody - it's a natural law. We have to realize our limitations (indeed there are sensible ways to use these to your advantage in business).

    My approach via football was because that was what first met me. You do have links to Tolkein and other books, so there is some leverage there too. My point is that put Tolkein, Netties and Football together and you have a niche. There will be something else that they all like too (and dislike, but that is for another day).

    Now - aside from the copyright issues - how about "An unexpected journey" (from your sidebar).

    ... "An Unexpected Path"

    "An Unexpected blog"??

    Pank - You've told us what your website is about, but not you goals for the site itself. Are you hoping to monetize your traffic? Sell products? Or simply share your thoughts for people to see?

    From your visitor's perspective, why should they care about your blog? What insights/knowledge/humour do YOU have them would make visiting your site worth their time (and more importantly, coming back and telling their friends about your site)? Also, are your articles intended for people mostly living in the UK?

    Since your website's name doesn't tell me anything about your audience, it's up to the tagline to help out. But the tagline should be a key benefit that you offer them, and that's more than a list of blog articles you've written.

    Until you refine your niche a tag line won't help you—even then, a tag line that rhymes with your site name is probably the least productive element you can focus on.

    Write about something something specific. At the moment, your content area is too broad. Write about movies, OR football and other sports, OR technology, OR books ... but not all of them.

    Go narrow and deep.

    Use social media and post DIFFERENT content on Twitter and Facebook (duplicated content on Facebook and Twitter turns audiences off).

    Create a picture of your ideal reader and write to that person.

    Create a series of one page, 90 day strategies that outline monthly directions for content, marketing, audience development, and monetization.

    Revise each of these documents every 3 months and sketch out an outline for each aimed at growth six months and 12 months hence.

    If you don't know where you're going, any road will take you there.

    Now you are making me nostalgic. I am a die hard Tolkien fan. You have tempted me to use 'There and back again.'

    The key benefit could be having everything they like under one roof. And in crisp and short format to keep their attention and interest intact.

    @Gary
    I guess my previous reply may clarify the things further.

    @Nova
    Thanks for the inputs. I am looking forward towards something smaller and simpler. :-)

    I would love to have something on the lines of - strength of many minds in a nano read. I like this theme. Could you suggest something much simpler and smaller on this theme? Thanks. :-)

    Back to Tolkein for a moment - how about "Blog and back again"?

    You wrote: "The key benefit could be having everything they like under one roof."

    Maybe you can explain how that is a benefit? It sounds to me like you may have an ego problem if you think many people will want to get your opinion on everything.

    You'd be much better served to narrow your target audience and focus the content on that audience.

    "Having everything they like under one roof" is not a benefit.

    Presenting content that is "in crisp and short format" is a mistake and in no way keeps people's.
    "attention and interest intact". Your content strategy is flawed and your determination to offer multiple subject areas for consumption will undermine your success.

    @Nova:
    Thanks a lot. 'Wisdom on a cracker' sounds good. :)

    @mgoodman:
    Thanks a lot for your response. I would like to make it clear that this blog is not a money-making business. We do not want multiple regular visitors. Few will be fine. We have our own way to project our blog, which we will enhance. Current is only working version.
    About 'ego'...sorry mate...no way! But I think you may have an ego which might be keeping you away from the real crux of the matter.

    @Gary:
    :) Thanks for the suggestion mate. I have received a couple of very useful inputs from you. Really appreciate it.
    Would it be fine, if we limit it to: Football & Movies?

    @Phil: The basic idea is very clear. I feel like sitting for a theory lecture of marketing 'science'. I have my requirements clear. I hope you do not want me to tell the difference between blogs and posts. The name and themes have already been finalized. So, I would appreciate it if you could let your egos off and assist me with the tag line, if possible. I have already received few very good suggestions on this forum itself.
    Sorry, but I also call them as I see them.

    @All: Wish you all a very happy and blessed new year 2013.
