Tagline And Social Media Kickoff For Ee''s

Posted by sstricklin on 250 Points
We have 500 employees across the country and would like to find a creative plan to get them on board and excited about our company entering the wonderful world of social media. Better late than never right? As part of the kick off communications plan, we also need to find a cheap/easy-to-mail trinket to send to ee''s that is somehow tied to social media. A micro fiber cleaning cloth was suggested since it''s needed to clean screens of smart phones, iPads, laptops, etc. (all devices used to engage in social media platforms.)Any ideas on social media internal kickoff plans and clever taglines that would tie the micro fiber cloths to our efforts? We need to place the order by tomorrow so I'm hoping to have feedback before then. THANKS!

First, it's less a case of getting your employees excited about your entry into social media and more a case of generating interest on the part of the customers you serve. Second, a slogan or tag line (particularly one required at such a late point into the entry process and that's needed as break neck speed) won't really help you generate the attention you seem to think is warranted. Third, what is an Ee?

I understand it's more important to get customers excited, but we have an external plan ready to implement. Secondly; it was suggested to us that getting employees excited should be part of it, and to do so, we should incorporate various forms of communication (email, mail/trinket and video demos of how to set up linked in pages, etc.) into the plan. Therefore, the trinket and its accompanying slogan are only part of it. Lastly, an "ee" is slang for "employee". SORRY ; I should have spelled it out!

What would you like to communicate to the employees about your entry into social media? What do you want them to do/think as a result of this initiative?

You run a risk, if all you do is tell them "we're active in social media now," that they'll respond with "Well it's about time!" or "So what?"

What's the company name? Is there a way to tie the name of the social media initiative into the name of the company? How about the industry or product line? Who are the customers? We need something to use as a starting point.

I think we need a slightly different approach to all this. Because you can't just promote someone's interest by using a catchy tagline. They will suffer the same fate as the boss's newsletter: cast into the wastebin before the headline has been looked at, let alone the front page.

Another point is what do you want to achieve by this action? Is it just another branding campaign that sets the building yawning rather than catching fire?

You need to find something that really interests them - and that isn't something I can do for you.

Most of your employees will be on Facebook and Twitter and the rest - how many of them are dissuaded from using it at work ... ??? Company employees who are on my Facebook friends list are extremely cautious about letting their employers see their pages!

To my mind you have some serious thinking to do before you even consider the freebies!
