How To Get Email Newsletter Through Anti Spam

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
Hi,

I am having trouble getting my HTML email newsletter delivered, I guess as a result of the anti spam software that exists within email systems. Can anyone suggest how to get round this, or is there a web site dedicated to this problem?

Thanks for your help

Why dont you just ask your subscribers to white list you? If thy really want your news letyter then they will spend a few secounds to add you to there white list.

Well when they sign up say on the form something like, Please Check your spam mail for our newsletter and add ZXY@ththth.com to your white list.

Or you could just put the address on your site saying "add this address to your white list", but this might be a problem because of Spoof email addresses and email harvesting robots.

You also might just want to send a text email informing them to add the adderss to your site.

If you are assuming that you're having significant spam-filter problems because your open rate is 50%, you might be incorrect.

A 50% open rate is not that bad.

That's not to say that nobody's blocking you (no mailer can get 100% of the mail through), but unless you have hard evidence that your mail is being blocked because of an IP address or block, a tainted domain, bad headers, or bad content, you might be chasing your tail on this one.

Is the 50% open rate the only basis on which you assume that you are being blocked to the point that you need to take corrective action?

Are you able to view your Top 20 or 25 domains to see if they have an open rate of zero?

If you have a domain with a good chunk of addresses and a lower-than-average open rate (or zero) you might be on to something.

Are you able to look at your bounces to see why they are being returned?

Have you tried sending a text-only version to see if that improves click-throughs at all?

Do you include a "Can't see images? Use this link." phrase that takes people to a Web version? If so, is this Web version trackable?

Just some thoughts to keep it going...

Another option is to go low tech. Simply snail mail a business letter, in your usually number 10 envelope, and invite the targeted audience to enter/click on a landing page to confirm Opt-in and white list. How many standard (without promotional graphics) business letters do you get a week? Perhaps a better cost/value solution in the long run.

    Hope this helps,
