We need to know more - who is it that you want to come to this conference? What would be the reason for them to come, and not just sit at home and roll another reefer (which after all, means they don't have to do anything*).

*A major problem with drug taking. Like frozen ready-meals, all you do is pop it in the microwave and sit down again. A computer on the table closes the circle of total entertainment.

How are you intending breaking this (un)virtuous circle??? What *one thing* do you have that will turn their heads?

    Where are the youth?
Why would they care about the conference? Their parents?
Why should their parents entrust their children to your?
What sort of "cutting edge ideas" are you looking for? What have you tried (and with what results)?

good questions! Its a faith based conference. The idea is to encourage the youth to have wholesome fun and help them make better decisions. Ofcourse turning to a belief system plays a role as a guiding principle. The purpose is to help them use the guiding principles to make their decisions. We are working with student groups on campuses and with a few churches. As for credibility -we have organized educational weekend conferences 3 to 4 times over the past 1.5 years.

    Some ideas -a skateboarding competition
    A game truck?

Target age is high school and college

From the perspective of your target audience -- the youth -- what's the big-idea benefit? What's in it for them? Why might they want to show up at the conference? Are you selling fun? Is that something they want -- enough to spend the time/effort to attend the conference?

You might want to talk with some of your "alumni" to see what they say about the value of the conference. Ask open-end questions, and let them talk. Listen carefully to the words they use. Those words will lead you to the marketing idea(s). Somehow they have to see a benefit for them. What does that look like?
