Question

Topic: Customer Behavior

Customer Experience Consultant

Posted by kholmes on 250 Points
I am at the point in my career that I have been asked to present on topics across the myriad of themes associated with the customer experience.

I have a full time job as a director at my company so I would like to make myself available to train and motivate businesses looking to create better ( or new) CE programs.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Prepare three presentations: an hour long version, a 40 minute version, and a 20 minute version. Then market what you can offer.

Show your "stuff" by crafting a strong 3 minute "sample" video. That'll give people a good idea of what to expect from you, and then you can craft a talk around your clients' needs.

Jay is quite right: video is an excellent way to create teaser content with which to build a list AS LONG AS it ends or includes a compelling call to action, such as: "If you like this presentation and want to hear more, sign up below and receive exclusive content."

Sign-ups then prequalify themselves. Using varying, yet specific content on targeted landing pages you then segment your list and can message each list accordingly, thereby focusing your efforts.

My thought is on how to reach these people. Many of the businessmen you need to be talking to will think they've got their problems under control - this way you'll have far more reach than just those who are already interested.

My point is that they aren't going to be looking for the things you are offering - they are very unlikely to be looking online. So a display network campaign - the CPM side of Adwords - may just fit the bill. This is where you get nasty: you don't advertise it under "customer care" you advertise it under "golf" "whisky" - anything you know these guys like doing when they're not actually working.

The responses will be dreadful, however you will be getting people who you otherwise would not be able to reach. It's one way to get past their gatekeepers!

Wow! Thanks everyone, these are amazing suggestions and definitely have given me food for thought. I especially like the website with specific landing pages for personalized responses... A huge win with the CE discipline . I like the idea of incorporating video that demonstrates my speaking style even if only a few seconds.... I appreciate all of the input and will keep you posted on my progress!

    Cheers!
