Hi,

Any creatives / advertisers / students out there...

I want to write my thesis on Advertising and IMC (Integrated Marketing Communication) but have no clue how to start off or what would be the best topic to work on?

Any views?

What are your interests in this field? After all, that ought to be your focus. Then look at the kind of people who would be interested in this and their reasonings and motives.

I'm not much good on branding as such - my line is direct marketing. There's basic info on IMC at wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Integrated_Marketing_Communications which is always a good standby for other points of view that may contrast your own.

Any help? If not, why not?

I was thinking...the role of advertising in IMC but it seems there's been a lot of studies on it and its too general so im now kinda stuck now..don't know how to narrow the topic down to make it more specific... any thoughts would be appreciated.

You could do a SWOT analysis of the studies already done, using their abstracts. That will give you a few ideas.

You could use my method for holidays: a dart and a map ;-) Believe me, it's pretty good for new ideas, but please don't use it with your computer screen.

What are your own personal interests? Software? Medicine? Travel? Boutiques or the food industry? What sort of magazines do you read? If you give me a lead on this, I could come up with some suggestions - and even if they're no good, it'll give you a pointer in the direction you WANT to go :-)

What company or companies offer a product or service that excites you or do you hope to work for post-graduation? Consider using your thesis as a way to get to know them better and make some connections. What problems are they having? What problems did they have? These are good places to start with your research.
