No One's Buying From My Online Store

Posted by maddiek92 on 50 Points
I design and sell nails. I started my website in the beginning of December. I've gotten around 100 visitors so far and I've had a few people message me that were interested in my products. But so far no one has actually bought anything. I wasn't expecting to sell a bunch right off the bat, but I thought I would have had at least one sell by now. My website is madnails.storenvy.com
If you have any advice or tips, they would be greatly appreciated. Especially since I am still very new at all of this.

Two issues here: firstly not all buyers make a purchase on their first visit, so have a newsletter or whatever that they can sign up for before they leave. That way you can get them to come back.

Secondly, your copy doesn't convey the "madness" of the nails in any way - you could try something a little zany? Plus your nails are hand painted - you don't make enough of this. Plus white on blue isn't easy to read and the lettering could be bigger. Plus you need a minimum 500 words that include counters to objections that the person may hold, it's the "long copy" argument.

100 visitors is a small sample size to base decisions on. A few things seem worth fixing:

    - your FAQ page gives the feeling that you're not strong on customer service "The nails are custom so all sales are final / email me proof of damage". How can you convey "we want you to LOVE your nails"?

    - your home page shows nails, but not on a beautiful hand or in an attractive "scene". There's minimal text on the home page as well.

    - the text for your individual nails also don't convey emotional "wow".

Your home page needs a clear positioning statement (what you do, who you do it for, and why). Sell the look of the nails, not the price. Present the lifestyle WITH the nails, not the price.

Color scheme is not female friendly. The nail tips alone don't demonstrate the product, how about some hands in the pictures? Also, video of how to use the product, or some glamor shot videos could be helpful.
