Project For Job Interview? Stuck!

Posted by debra00.tacoma on 250 Points
So I recently got a call for a position I applied to as a Sales and Marketing assistant with training provided. I specified I did not have the experience but I am willing to learn. After a phone interview I was asked to come in for a face to face with some sort of project just to show what I might already know.

And here's where I am stuck! I'm not sure exactly what to do or what is expected. I was asked to go to their website and look around, get familiar with the company, the products, and try to come up with something.

I'm currently fooling around with InDesign trying to just mess around with ideas but finding no success. I feel like that is a little more advanced for current experience and knowledge. Any advice? Thank you!

You know what it is they are trying to sell, right? When you go to their site, imagine you want to buy that thing/service. What roadblocks do hit? Where does their site come up short- either marketing (group targeting), or sales (individual selling)? Outline a strategy to remedy that problem.

What have you done in your life that makes YOU think that this could be the right job for you at this point? Talk about that. Have you ever held any sort of job? If so, what did you learn and/or demonstrate at that job? What have you done that makes you proud of your own performance? What traits have you exhibited that indicate you might be well suited for this position?

These all seem like they would be fertile areas for your discussion.

The first sale you'd want to make for them is on you. Why do they need to hire YOU? What do you know/see that they don't? How would you uniquely connect to their clientele? Start there.
