Define A=q+1 In The Block & Bridge Technique

Presently preparing a PR presentation and require a definition of the Equation A=Q+1 associated with the block and bridge technique while dealing with media interviews.

    A = Q + 1

    Means that the answer you give (A) responds to another question (Q + 1), not the same as the question you were asked (Q).

    Example:

    Q. Do you think the mayor made the right decision? (Often a question that calls for a yes/no answer.)

    A. That's not the question. (Blocking answer = A.) The real issue is whether the governor should accept the mayor's position or not. (Bridge to what *you* want to talk about, a new question = Q + 1)
