Internal Analysis Models

Posted by son_goku85 on 125 Points
Dear,

I am currently writing the methodolgy for my (thesis) export plan. I have done this a couple of times, but I now find myself struggeling to choose the correct model for my internal analysis.
My sub-question is easy: What are the strenghts and weaknesses of (company)?

The company for which I am writing the plan is not that large, with approx. 17 employees. It is an import and export company for foods. The only suitable model I can find is the VRIO analysis. I would love to hear some other models or recommendations. Regards!

Ps. I am doing the internal analysis before the external. This is mandatory in my education.

We have always used a straightforward SWOT analysis -- first for our own company and then for competition. If necessary, we do separate SWOT analyses for each market segment in which we compete.

I understand that approach. However, this may sound strange, but for my thesis we use a standard format. That means internal analysis(S+W), afterwards the external analysis(O+T). After finishing both, then we use the SWOT analysis. That means we do not use the SWOT as a model in the internal analysis, but only after doing the whole research so to speak. That is why I am searching for some options.

Your sub-question: "What are the strengths and weaknesses of (company)?" is too vague.

Strengths and weaknesses related to what? To whom? Where? Weighed against which variables: marketplace, workforce, competition, sales, customer experience?

It is weighed against a market, so that would be the foods market in the UAE.

Again, "foods", as a market is too vague. What kinds of food? Locally produced or manufactured? Imported? Locally grown? Dry goods? Liquid foods?
