Event Title For Battle Of The Bands Fundraiser

Posted by jessica.mckinney on 250 Points
We are a nonprofit in SC that will be holding a Battle of the Bands type fundraiser for our nonprofit. This is our first time holding this event and wondering if this really needs to be named something. Our director likes, "The Clash" as the event name—but I honestly am not sure. I immediately think of the 1980's punk band but she is visioning marketing with guitars fighting like swords. So I am hoping to find a possible better name I can suggest—or since it is our first one, does it even need a distinguishing name?
The event will be in June so marketing is on the fast track!
This will be to raise funds for the Upstate Family Resource Center

Let me know if you need more detail... and thank you!

    More information needed:

Who is the target audience for the name? Where are they (specifically)? Just Spartanberg?

What do you want the target audience to DO? What's in it for them?

What does the Upstate Family Resource Center do? Why should your target audience support this organization? What is the name of YOUR organization?

Who is the target audience for the name? Where are they (specifically)?
Target audience would be 16 years and older. Target audience would be living here in Upstate South Carolina--Spartanburg/Greenville Counties (unless someone wants to drive further)
What do you want the target audience to DO? What's in it for them?
We want the target audience to purchase tickets and vote for their favorite band via text. We are looking to use a "text to give" platform. The more the audience donates for a favorite band, the more chances the band has to win.
What does the Upstate Family Resource Center do? Why should your target audience support this organization
The UFRC works to support families. We offer crisis services in the form of food, financial, baby items, clothing and more. We also offer adult education programming, parenting classes, family counseling, advocacy for Latino families, and support for teen mothers in our area. We are the only resource center in this part of our county in Spartanburg. www.upstatefrc.org

The name "The Clash" is a registered trademark, so any use will probably find your boss on the wrong end of cease and desist notice. Additionally, no one—NO ONE—will have the faintest idea what the name means, other than it referring to the band of the same name.

Stick with the name of your organization and the phrase, Battle of the Bands.

How well known is the Upstate Family Resource Center for those that you'd hope to purchase tickets/donate? If it's beloved, then make your name front-and-center. If it's not yet well-known, then focus on the theme foremost, and connect your name secondarily.

Another approach is to use a blended name (such as, "Banding Together To Help" or "Playing To Matter").
