Estimating Revenue From Affiliate Marketing

I'm involving in planning an e-commerce portal. We've been asked to estimate revenue from affiliate marketing (via a Yahoo or Bizrate "store of stores"). Are there any rules of thumb that could help us get a handle on this complex subject??

    Hi dkarpoff,

    This might seem obvious, but with the myriad of affiliate marketing companies and enablers out there, can't you get any reliable and consistent rules of thumb or empirical data from any of them?

    Have you asked for a list of their customers that you can contact, ideally in your horizontal, and get their real world data?
