Know-How Exchange : Student Questions

i am doing my dissertation as well as working for a transport company. my dissertation topic is "Strategic marketing issues faced by a road freight industry in an escalating competitive environment:A case of V-Trans India Ltd". i am willing to do my analysis on michaels 5 force model as well as a swot analysis and try to find out area where the organization is lacking behind and also suggest them how to improve from their present situation.
my question is: Is my approach correct and if so then is michaels 5 force model applicable to services marketing also?
