    Ellie --

I assume you own elliekuykendall.com? You should, if you don't, whether you use it for this project or not. Some day down the road you might want it -- even for personal stuff. I'd grab it.

But I agree -- for the use you describe, I'd use the briefer elliemk. Is elliek available? That's better yet.

prowriterandeditor.com is ok -- but I'm not sure it's particularly memorable. Can you mix the two -- ekwritingandediting?

    Good luck!

You can get a vanity URL if you want, but I wouldn't use the longer or the shorter version as your primary business URL. The longer one is just, well, long, and the shorter ones (elliemk.com and elliek.com, both of which I like) sound like LEMK.com and LEK.com when spoken. You're going to spend more time spelling the URL for people than saying the URL itself. The URL should be plain when spoken.

If you intend to be solo freelance for the foreseeable future, I'd aim for something like wordsbyellie.com (still has the potential to be called wordsbyLE.com, though), or betterwords.com or yourcopystinks.com or something like that. I agree with Ann that, while descriptive, prowriterandeditor.com is "okay," but it doesn't exactly roll off the tongue. FYI, domains such as betterwebcopy.com and betterwebwords.com are available, just as examples.

My $0.02, overvalued even at that.
